In this article I will provide an overview of the new Nokia 701, a new smartphone which comes with a spec list including the likes of a high resolution touchscreen, fast internet browsing and an 8 megapixel camera.

Similar to a number of other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 701 has rounded corners and a metallic finish on the casing, so it certainly looks the part. As mentioned, the Nokia 701 comes with an 8 megapixel camera, which means the handset performs very well as a cameraphone. The 8 megapixel camera with a resolution of 3264x 2448 has quickly become the standard for most new smartphones, and is capable of producing good quality still images, as well as videos in 720p HD. The camera comes with fixed focus, dual-LED flash and face detection, so good results are assured in all conditions.

The latest version of Symbian is the operating system of choice for the Nokia 701, and offers several attractive traits such as customisable homescreens and downloadable apps and widgets from Nokia’s Ovi store. The handset packs a powerful 1 GHz processor under the hood, and although it may not be up to par with newer smartphones with dual-core processors, it does the job well, and is perfect for what is, at the end of the day, a mid range smartphone.

The Nokia 701 makes for a good alternative to mainstream smartphones like the iPhone series and the prolific Samsung and HTC devices which are proving so popular. If you are looking for something different with distinctive styling and a solid all round spec list, the Nokia 701 could be right up your street.
