An optical fiber is a transparent fiber made of silica. This fiber is flexible and is not much wider then a human hair. It acts like a light pipe to transmit light from one end to other in a fiber. A fiber consists of a core that is surrounded by another material that has lower index of refraction. This makes an optical fiber a perfect wave guide. These optical fibers are also used widely in fiber optics communication which is much better than any other form of communication and is best for transmission over longer distances. Study of optical fibers is an essential part of telecom training as it is also used as a medium for telecommunication and networking.

Optical fibers are used for long distance communication because light propagates through the fiber with little attenuation compared to electrical cables and for short distance applications, it can save the space in cable ducts. It is perfect for telecom purposes as it do not pick environment noise, there is no cross talk signals in different cable is possible. The silica fiber are generally coated with tough resin buffer layers, which is further surrounded by the jacket layer made up of glass that reduces the flare in fiber bundle imaging applications. Fiber optical cables have become very common these days. These cables are used in commercial and domestic buildings both and in the field of telecommunication the importance of these fiber cables is immense. But you will not get the proper result if the cable is not installed properly. Fiber optics training is thus a very important thing.
